NEEDLESS TO SAY, SHE'S RATHER SHOCKED TODAY

She was born under the name Karen Michelle Johnston in Dallas, Texas on February 1962.  Nothing much is known about her childhood or what she did before she became famous.  What's known about Karen Michelle Johnston was that she changed her name to Michelle Shocked before her bootleg album The Texas Campire Tapes was released.  Essentially, she played some tunes around the campfire (Possibly while going camping with friends), somebody recorded the performance without her knowledge and got it released by Mercury without her knowledge.  At any rate, Michelle Shocked ended becoming famous because of that recording contract without her knowledge and concent.  Michelle Shocked released four albums through Mercury before she asked to be released from her contract and all her albums taken out of circulation.  She then released her entire catalogue through her private website as an indpendent venture (With bonus tracks added to her privately released editions of the original Mercury editions.  She's still recording and releasing albums through her private independent label available only through her website.  Soul of my Soul was her most recent release in 2009.  She got arrested while participating in Occupy Los Angeles.  She's married Bart Bull in 1992 and divorced him in 2004.
