HOME OF THE BRAVE

Laura Phillips Anderson was born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois on June 5, 1947.  Being the product of a marriage between Mary Louise and Arthur T. Anderson, she graduated her hometown Glenbard West High School before attending Mills College in Oakland, California.  She transfered and graduated from Barnard College in New York City, New York.  With a degree in Art History in tow, she attended Columbia University in Manhatten, New York City, New York where she got a MFA in Sculpture.  Her career in sculpture artwork was altered by a career in experiemental music involving keyboards and violens as well as singing (With spoken word poetry included in parts).  The 1970's was a breakthrough for Laurie Anderson after which she released seven albums, one spoken word album and two live albums.  Laurie Anderson married legendary rock star Lou Reed in 2008.  Lou Reed produced her latest album Homeland in 2010.
