I didn't see the 85th Annual Academy Awards, but I heard about it after the fact. Let's see, Argo won the Oscar for Best Picture. Ang Lee won the Oscar for Best Director for Life of Pi. Daniel Day-Lewis wins the Oscar for Best Lead Actor for Lincoln, Jennifer Lawrence wins the Oscar for Best Lead Actress for Silver Lining Playbook, Anne Hathaway wins the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables and Christoph Waltz wins the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Django Unchained (An escaping African-American slave kills his former slave owner in civil rights revenge thriller). However, it wasn't two films about the civil rights movement (Lincoln and Django Unchained) that got the publicity, but it's Seth McFarlane's approach to hosting the 85th Annual Academy Awards. Starting with an opening song that's best suited for the Playboy Club rather than the 85th Annual Academy Awards entitled We Saw Your Boobs, Seth McFarlane has been sexist and condesending towards the female gender almost non-stop. Keep in mind that Seth McFarlane is the same toilet humor commedian who has done the toilet humor cartoon series The Family Guy and the Cleveland Show and live action comedies such as Ted where he has done pretty much the same as he did for the 85th Annaul Academy Awards. It was foolish to think that Seth McFarlane would grow up long enough to host the Oscars in a dignified manner. And it's a shame that Seth McFarlane's celebration of what pretty much ammounts to sexual harassment as a positive force of good distracted from the real intent of the 85th Annual Academy Awards which is supposed to be about the celebration of the movies. Gentle Reader, if you ask me, I would rather see James Franco and Anne Hathaway return as hosts for the 86th Annual Academy Awards.
