HER NAME IS LADYHAWKE

Ladyhawke was born under the name Phillipa Brown or Pip Brown in Masterton, Wellington,  New Zealand on July 13, 1979.   She became interested in music at an early age while watching her mother perform as a guitar playing singer and her step-father play in a jazz band.  It was at age ten that she became infected with a disease common in seagulls, but rarely in humans called erysipeloid.  She slipped into a coma and nearly died due to her allergies to antihistamine, antibiotics and Penicillin.  Her difficult disease filled childhood was also complicated her bout with Asperger syndrome.  Upon graduating high school, she attended Chanel College in Masterson, New Zealand, but it's not known if she ever graduated nor is it known if she ever chosen a major.  She preferred to play in a series of temporary punk and grunge rock bands while attending classes.
Phillipa Brown joined the grunge rock band Two Lane Blacktop.  Two Lane Blacktop recorded an album entitled That Girl in 2003, but it was never released.  Their ep albums Live (released in 2001), Mechanic Demo (released in 2001) and the Mechanic (released in 2002) were taken out of circulation and are impossible to find anywhere.  Two Lane Blacktop got together in 2001 and they broke up in 2003 with their failure to release their first and only full length album. 
Phillipa Brown formed a symboitic partnership with Nick Littlemore to form the rock band Teenager.  He did all the singing and she was the mute who played the guitar (She plays several musical instruments including bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drums, keyboards, synthesiser).  Teenager got together in 2004 and broke up in 2007 after releasing only one album entitled Thirteen.

 

With the breakup of Teenager, Phillipa Brown started to call herslef Ladyhawke and recorded her debut solo album which was released on 2008.  Her second album was released in 2012.  Phillipa Brown aka Ladyhawke continues to record music and tour to support her music to this exact moment in time.
