REPEATING PAST EVENTS

A friendship or relationship based exclusively on repeating past tragedies isn't much of a friendship or relationship.  Solidarity built only on pain requires the continuation of pain in order for such expressions of solidarity to continue.  And thus, the removal of pain destroys the expression of solidarity since pain was the only way to express such solidarity. 
A friendship or relationship based exclusively on repeating expressions of appreciation and empathy is the best form of friendship or relationship.  Solidarity built only on appreciation and empathy requires the continuation of appreciation and empathy to continue.  Thus, the presence of pain makes such expressions of solidarity stronger because love is stronger than hate.  And it's better to love the world than it is to hate the world.
