Let's start with the basics. The United States of America is the only country on Earth that doesn't have a Parliamentary System of Government. The Legislation Branch, the Executive Branch and the Judicial Branch are all separate from each other. There is no Prime Minister. The President of the United States isn't the Party Leader. The President of the United States isn't required to have a majority in Capitol Hill. And instead of the Party Leader choosing the Candidates, the General Public chooses the Candidates in the Primaries before the General Elections. Also the Midterm Elections are mandatory. No other country on Earth does it that way.
Now then, yesterday was the Midterm Elections for the United States of America. None of this means that President Donald Trump lost control over the government because the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch and the Judicial Branch are all separate from each other. Also, keep in mind that President Donald Trump is a Republican. Which means that this will effect the way he will be able to govern.
The United States Senate:
Before the Midterm Elections, the Democratic Party had 45 seats while the Republican Party had 53. After the Midterms, the Democratic Party has between 52 to 54 while the Republicans has between 44 to 46. So the Democrats and the Republicans switched places as far as the United States Senate is concerned.
The United States House of Representatives:
Before the Midterm Elections, the Democratic Party had 214 seats while the Republican party has 218 seats. After the Midterm Elections, the Democratic Party has 238 seats while the Republican P5arty has 147 seats. The election results has been much more devastating here.
Gubernatorial Elections:
40 seats is up for grabs (36 states, 3 territories and the Mayor of Washington District of Columbia (D.C.). There are 50 states, 5 territories and one District)
The Democrats won the Mayor of Washington D.C., won 1 territory and won between 28 to 30 seats. The Democrats had 24 state governor seats before the Midterm Elections. The Republicans won 2 territories and won 20 to 22 seats. The Republicans had 26 seats before the Midterm Elections.
Topics was the unpopular war against Iran, Artificial Intelligence Computer Data Centers taking jobs away, President Donald Trump's erratic behavior, immigration control that was way too aggressive and inflation rates.
