CANADIAN THANKSGIVING DAY

Well, it's time to get the turkey into the oven.  Make the cranberry sauce and the bread suffing.  It's time to cook the yams and prepare the pasta.  Oh yes, don't forget the pumpkin pie.  For today is the day Canada celebrates Thanksgiving Day.  For those in the United States of America, today is just another day that ramps upwards towards Halloween.  For those living in Canada where the beaver replaces the Bald Eagle as the state animal, October starts with Thanksgiving Day and ends with Halloween.  November has no holidays in it when you're living in Canada.  Canada has been celebrating Thanksgiving Day on October 8 every year since it was proclaimed a national holiday on January 31, 1957 by the Canadian Parliment.  The reason for this was based on the third voyage by Martin Frobisher on 1578 while searching for the Northwest Passage.  Martin Frobisher brought along fifteen boats to what will later be known as Frobisher Bay directly leading towards Baffin island in the Canadian Territory (State) of Nunavut.  As far as the citizens of Canada, Martin Frobisher is much more important than Christopher Columbus.  That's because whle Christiopher Columbus claimed to have discovered America (The Native American Indians actually got there first) in November using only three boats, Martin Frobisher discovered Canada (The Native American Indians still got there first) using only fifteen boats in October (The same month as Halloween).   So lets all eat turkey in October in celebration of Martin Frobisher---the sea captain who is more popular than Christopher Columbus (In Canada at any rate).
As I'm lost in thought about turkey dinners, here are some photos of film and television actress Amy Acker.  The television shows that she was a cast member of were Angel, the fifth season of Alias and Happy Town.  Amy Acker as Winifred 'Fred' Burkle was the only female cast member of Angel who never made an appearance on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I don't know if Stephanie Romanov as Lilah Morgan qualifies as a cast member of Angel.  She didn't appear on Buffy the Vampire Slayer either at any rate).
