SHE FELT THE EARTH MOVE

Carole King was born under the name Carol Joan Klein and she was born to a Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York City on February 9, 1942.  She was a musical child prodigy who started playing the piano at age four and was learning to dance at age eight.  While attending James Madison High School, she formed a temporary short lived rock group called Co-Sines.  Becoming a solo performer, Carole King became classmates of rock star Neil Sedaka at Queens College.  Neil Sedaka and Carole King dated, but never married while attending Queens College together.  A few song titles became something of a whimsicle conversation between the two.  A Neil Sedaka song directly about Carole King entitled Oh, Carol was responed with a song Oh, Neil.  Carole King married  Gerry Goffin on August 30, 1959, they produced two daughters and later divorced in 1968.  Between falling in love in 1959 and falling out of love in 1968, Carole King and Gerry Goffin produced a solid song writing team.  Most of the songs on Carole King's albums was written by herself.  Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar and Charles Larkey formed a rock band with Carole King called the City and produced only one album, entitled Now That Everything's Been Said, before breaking up in 1968.  Carole King returned to her solo career in 1970 with her second album Writer and she never looked back.    Carole King's latest album, which was filled with classic Christmas songs, has been released in 2011.
