However, an actual record never resulted from the recording contract. Geffen Records dropped her before the recording sessions could begin. Frustrated by her lack of progress, she started posting homemade music videos of her songs on www.youtube.com at the age of fourteen on 2007. Three years later, in 2010, Tori Kelly traveled from California to Denver, Colorado to compete in the nineth season of American Idol. She made it all the way to Hollywood Week as one of 181 contestants competing for only twenty-four spots---Twelve women and twelve men. Tori Kelly never made it past Hollywood Week and voted off the show. Crushed by her failure, Tori never competed on American Idol ever again.
She formed her own label Toraay Records and released her debut album on May 1, 2012. She was signed to Capitol Records the next year on 2013 and released her second album. Her third album was released on 2015. Tori Kelly continues to record albums and tour to support her music at this exact moment of time.
