Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted Andersen was born in Ubberud, Denmark on August 13, 1988. She didn't stay there long. Her family relocated and she grew up in in Ejlstrup which was a town located on the island of Funen, Denmark. She was the youngest child in a family of four. Frans Ørsted was her father and he was a psychologist, Mette Ørsted was her mother and she was a teacher and Kaspar Ørsted is her older brother and he's a doctor. She adopted the stage name of MØ (Pronounced Mer) and started a band called the Edmunds from 2006 to 2010. However, the Edmunds was merely a side project of hers because she was also recording two EPs with Josefine Struckmann Pedersen under the name MOR between 2007 to 2012.
With the breakup of MOR and the Edmunds in 2012, MØ started to package herself as a solo performer. She eventually landed a recording contract and released her debut solo album two years later on 2014. Between 2015 to 2016, MØ started to release singles from her upcoming second album which will be released very soon. MØ continues to record music and tour to support her music at this exact moment of time.
