ICE OR SNOW?

Yesterday the weather was supposed to be horrific in an unspecified way. The ABC local news weather person on the local evening news didn't know if it was going to snow or rain, but predicted something horrific. And yesterday came and it was dry with forty degree temperature. It started to rain starting around 5:30 and it was still raining (Possibly) with white stuff on the ground when I fell asleep. However, I didn't know if that white stuff was snow to shovel or ice to put ice melting chemicals on. Now it sounds as if either the wind is blowing or rain is falling. So does that mean that the snow and ice is already melted? Again, I'm not sure. I'll have to first look out of the window in order to make sure.
