1985 was the year that L7 first started as a duet consisting of Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner. Jennifer Precious Finch and Roy Koutsky turned the duet into a quartet two years later in 1987 resulting in an album released in 1988. Roy Koutsky left soon afterwards. Anne Anderson joined the band in the drum section in 1988 only to leave the band that same exact year. 1988 was also the year that Demetra Plakas joined the band as their third and final drummer. A shift from Epitaph Records to Sub Pop Records in 1990 lead to a major label release through Slash/Reprise Records in 1992. Their third album would prove to be their breakthrough and their fourth album in 1994 would continue their success. However, there were trouble in paradise. Jennifer Precious Finch left the band in 1996. Jennifer Precious Finch showed off her lead singing skills first for the short lived band OtherStarPeople in 1999 and another short lived band the Shocker between 2003 to 2006.
Donita Sparks, Suzi Gardner and Demetra Plakas continued as a trio for three more albums on 1997, 1998 and 1999 before L7 broke up in 2001. Donita Sparks did a solo album with Dementra Plakas as the drummer in 2008 before reforming L7 with Suzi Gardner, Jennifer Precious Finch and Dementra Plakas in 2014. L7 continues to record music and tour to support their music at this exact moment of time.
