Kristin Gundred's life before 2006 is a bit of a mystery. It isn't known her birthday nor is it known where she was born or where she grew up it. Not much is known about her schooling. Her story began beyond the year 2000. Between 2006 to 2009, singer-drummer Kristin Gundred, guitarist John Paul Labno and bassist Michael Krechnyak formed a trio called the Grand Ole Party. It's doubtful that any of them were Republicans and the name of the trio could easily have been considered sarcastic. Still, they had a good time with the brief span of time that the band was recording and performing before breaking up.
Kristin Gundred changed her name to Kristin "Dee Dee" Welchez and formed the band the Dum Dum Girls in 2008. While most people consider the Dum Dum Girls to be a four girl band, they revolving door band roster had been a lot larger than that consisting of Kristin "Dee Dee" Welchez, Jules Medeiros, Sandra Vu and Andrew Miller in it's final incarnation with Bambi, Frankie Rose, Jeremy Rojas, Andrew Montoya, Brandon Welchez, Mike Sniper, Chuck Rowell and Malia James as members of previous incarnations of the Dum Dum Girls. The first two albums was self released before joining the Sub Pop record label in 2009. Official Sub Pop releases were on 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014. Technically, the Dum Dum Girls are still together, though the current membership roster has drifted off to other rock band projects.
Kristin Gundred recently released a solo album under the stage name of Kristin Kontrol on 2016. Kristin Kontrol is currently touring to support her debut solo album.
Vocals and drums Gena Olivier, guitarist Larry Schemel and keyboardist Jason Hammons formed Midnight Movies in 2002. And after two albums, Jason Hammons was out.
Starting in 2007, bassist Ryan Wood and drummer Sandra Vu joined the band with Gena Olivier doing keyboards and vocals. The group did two more albums before breaking up in 2008 which freed up Sandra Vu to join the Dum Dum Girls full time.
Sandra Vu also did drumming for the rock bands Cheap Curls and Indoor Voices
before forming the rock band SISU on 2010. SISU released both an EP and a full length album both on 2013. The full band roster is Vocals, Guitarist and flute player Sandra Vu, base player and synth player Ryan Wood, bass player David South, keyboard player and backing vocals Julianna "Jules" Medeiros and drummer Nathanael Keefer. SISU continues to record new music and tour to support their music at this exact moment of time.
