SHE FOUGHT IN THE CIVIL WARS AND LIVED TO TELL THE STORY
Joy Elizabeth Williams was born in Santa Cruz, California on November 14, 1982. Both of her parents were active in Christian ministry with her father in particular employed as Executive Director for Mount Hermon Christian Conference Center. Despite becoming senior class Valedictorian while graduating San Jose, California based Valley Christian High School, Joy Williams chose to skip college to become a rock star. She rejected recording industry contracts a few times before she could find a company that she can agree with. She signed with Sony BMG Music Entertainment subdivision company Reunion Records to release Christian rock albums. Her Christian rock albums blended Christianity with modern rock album recording structure. She formed a duet rock group with John Paul White (Who recorded only one solo album) known as the Civil Wars. Despite winning a Grammy for best Country Music Group, they went on hiatus due to irreconcilable differences, but the door is still sort of open for more music recording and touring---Perhaps. The Civil Wars released one full length album and two ep albums. Joy Williams released four full length albums and six ep albums. The Civil Wars collaborated with Taylor Swift for the Hunger Games film theme song Safe and Sound in 2012.
