And to celebrate Songkran, celebration revelers would pay respect to the deceased by going to a Budhist Monastery (Also called a Wat) to pray and give food to the Budhist Monks. And back at home, Kongkran revelers would pour a mixture of Thai fragrance and water over small statues of Buddha. Water fights is also important to the celebration of Songkran. Originally, the mixture of thai fragrance and water that was poured over the statues of Gautama Buddha or Siddhārtha Gautama Buddha was then poured over the Songkran revelers. However, water that hasn't been poured over statues of Buddha also qualify for the eventually reinvented water fights (That also include water guns, garden hoses and buckets of water that isn't blessed by Buddha and water balloons too). So in case I didn't have the chance to tell the Gentle Reader already, Happy New Year everybody.
