LET'S FIND THE DUMBEST REASONS TO SPLIT UP AT THE WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT

Let's see, stay at home and watch television or travel to an area with a scary death curse?  Well, if you're in a horror film, you would choose the second option.  However, those who chose the second option are folks who probably need to have their heads examined.  To be honest, areas with a scary death curse probably would've been invaded by the combined forces of the United States National Guard, the SWAT Squad and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and shut down before the week is done.  But then there would be no chance for a sequel if such a thing was possible.  Then again, the world of film and television is set in an alternate reality that's disconnected from the real world.
