THE BRIGHT SIDE OF MEIKO

Not much is known about Meiko.  Meiko isn't even her name, but rather it's her nickname.  Her actual birthname was never given to anybody---Not even to those that she trusts with her life.  So what's actually known about Meiko?  Well, Meiko was born in Roberta, Georgia on February 25, 1982.  Her maternal grandmother was one fourth Japaneese.  Meiko chose the nickname Meiko because is was Japanese and it was an effort to get in touch with her maternal grandmother's Japanese background.  Meiko's designer sister, Kelly Nishimoto, nicknamed herself Keiko around the same time that Meiko discarded her birth name in favor of her nickname.  Her first album was released in 2007 and her second album was released in 2012.  She got her start at and she still performs in the cappuccino cafe (Which later became a popular Los Angelas rock concert venue) Hotel Café.   The Hotel Café also has Priscilla Ahn,  Ingrid Michaelson, Laura Jansen, Charlotte Martin, Sara Bareilles and Anna Nalick as frequent rock concert performers.
