GEOGRAPHY

Ok, the story goes something like this.  Moses didn't need to cross the Red Sea when he waa escaping Egypt after killing a Middle Eastern born Egyptian who was beating a Caucasian Jewish slave.  However, Moses needed to cross the Red Sea when leading the entire nation of Israel out of bondage in Egypt.  Yet, Moses ended up in the same spot both times he was forced to flee from Egypt.  So I'm trying to figure out the geography.  How did Moses avoid the Red Sea the first time, but failed to avoid the Red Sea the second time?  And where is the Red Sea anyway?  Was Moses even using a map at all in the first place?  Ah yes, I have too many questions about the use of geography in the Holy Bible, but not enough answers.
And as I'm lost in thought about the Holy Bible, here are some photos of rock star Sheryl Crow.
