THE LIGHT PRINCESS

Tori Amos is now more than just a singer/songwriter, but she also composes music for musicals/operas too.  Tori Amos first musical/opera composition is the Light Princess.  The fairy tale musical/opera was written in Scotland by George MacDonald, adapted by  Samuel Adamson, music and lyrics by Tori Amos with Marianne Elliott directing.
This is essentially the plot of the musical/opera the Light Princess.  Princess Makemnoit is an evil woman who hated that Princess Althea was having a christening.  So seeking revenge for that, Princess Makemnoit curses Princess Althea never to be subject to normal gravity but instead to float and fly in mid-air forever.  It was only when finding that Princess Althea is swimming in her favorite lake that it's discovered that her normal gravity is restored.  Upon learning that, a cure for the curse is found----Simply find a way to make Princess Althea cry.  However, Princess Althea is incapable of crying because she's always happy, whimsical and silly all the days of her life.  And it's when she was swimming in her favorite lake, that Prince Digby mistakes her swimming for drowning.  He rescues a woman who didn't need to be rescued because she's a very good swimmer.  They fall in love and most of their dates involve swimming because she has no gravity on dry land and she has her gravity restored when swimming.
Princess Makemnoit wanted Princess Althea to float away from Earth and into the universe which is why she made the curse.  And realizing that being submerged is the only way around the curse, Princess Makemnoit makes a second curse banishing all water from the land.  And as the lake dries up, Prince Digby sacrafices his life to block the hole that all water is escaping from.  Satisfied with the advancement of her revenge, Princess Makemnoit builds a house in the deepest end of where the lake once was and lives there.  The escaped water magically returns (Defying the laws of science in the process) and drowns him to death.  And crying over the death of Prince Digby causes Princes Althea to have her normal gravity restored on dry land as well as being submerged in water.  Prince Digby returns to life through magic.  Princess Makemnoit drowns to death when her house is submerged underwater.  Princess Althea and Prince Digby gets married and lives happily ever after.
