THE DEBUT OF IZOMBIE

It was at the Comic-Con International 2014 at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego on July 24, 2014 in San Diego, Californiathat Rose McIvers arrived to help celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Batman comic book and also help promote the upcoming release of Batman: Arkham Knight video game.  Even though Rose McIvers doesn't play videogames, she arrived to help promote it anyway.

That wasn't the full extent of Rose McIver's involvement with DC Comics.  You see, she's been hired to play the lead in the television series adaptation of the IZombie comic book series also published by DC Comics.
Set in Eugene, Oregon, the comic follows a newly minted zombie named Gwendolyn "Gwen" Dylan (née Price) who still has control over her mind.  Though she still needs to eat human brains as her exclusive source of nourishment (Zombies are a distant cousin of vampires after all.  Just replace the need to drink human blood with the need to munch on some dude's brains and you get the general idea about where this comic book is going).  A ghost named  Eleanor "Ellie" Stuart (née Roosevelt), a were terrier (Instead of a werewolf) named  Scott "Spot" along with his friends Vincent Tan and Ashok Patel, Gwen's brother Galvin Dylan along with a zombie named John Amon.  John Amon sired Gwen to become a zombie which means that she now must obey every single one of his commands regardless of her feeling on the matter since she's now in his zombie coven.  IZombie ran for twenty-eight issues between 2010 to 2012.

Naturally, the comic book to film craze has been so lucrative, that a television series adaptation of IZombie was unavoidable.  Though the female zombie and the psycho zombie who sired her was retained, everything else about the comic book was abandoned.  The revised cast changed Gwendolyn "Gwen" Dylan (née Price) to Olivia "Liv" Moore and played by Rose McIver.  John Amon was changed into Blaine DeBeers and played by David Anders.  Among the new television series exclusive characters are Liv's ex-fiancé (She was divorced in the comic book) Major Lilywhite and played by Robert Buckley.  Liv's medical examiner employer Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti played by Rahul Kohli.   And with the Eugene, Oregon setting replaced by Seattle, Washington a police procedural element was added with a Seattle Police Department plain clothes officer Clive Babinaux played by Malcolm Goodwin.  Demoted from series regular to recurring guest star is was Gwen's brother Galvin Dylan who is changed to Evan Moore and played by Nick Purcha.
The television series starts with Liv as a normal human being meeting the zombie creep who will sire her at a boating party...
...Where she only survives by becoming a zombie and watching her humanity die forever...
...And that's where the female zombie turned super-heroin crime fighter fun really starts.  The comic book super-hero television series IZombie premiered on March 17, 2015.
