Bread starts off as a liquid batter. You combine some ingredients into a bowl and you mix it around. And once poured into a greased pan, it's baked into an oven. And after a period of time, what started off as a liquid batter is now a solid object. And it never ceases to amaze me how a liquid could turn into a solid simply by being exposed to a certain amount of heat from the oven for a certain period of time. Yet, that's one of the coolest things about baking. Is that the process of transformation turns one thing into the complete diametric opposite. And nobody really misses the batter before it turns to bread. And everybody delights when the batter turns into bread.
