Joanne O'Meara was born in Romford, Essex on 29 April 1979.  She has a brother named Shane and a sister named Julia.   Upon relocating to London Borough of Havering, she was schooled in Clockhouse Junior School and the Bower Park School before chosing to be a rock star.  She sang on the rap music group 2-4 Family song Stay and toured with them.  Jo's involvement with the 2-4 Family was limited only to one song and soon auditioned and hired to sing and act on the television show S Club 7 (Which was also a rock group).  After S Club 7 broke up and the television series canceled, she released her debut solo album on October 3, 2005.  She rejoined S Club (Renamed S Club 3) with Bradley McIntosh and Paul Cattermole.  She's the only female member of S Club to rejoin the band.
