Iggy Azalea was born under the name Amethyst Amelia Kelly in Sydney, Australia on June 7, 1990.  However, Amethyst's family didn't stay in Sydney, Australia for long.  Her family relocated to Mullumbimby, New South Wales which is where she was raised until she became a teenager.  Her mother was a hotel and house cleaning maid and her father was an artist who painted art and drew comics.  Her father also knew how to build houses and purchased twelve acres of land so he could build a house from scratch from mud bricks.  Amethyst was drawn to rap music at age fourteen tried to lead a rap music trio, but broke it up because the other two girls kept joking around too much to get anything recorded or get any rock concerts started.  Amethyst dropped out of high school, performed rap concerts and found employment at her Mother's place of employment as a maid cleaning houses and hotels.  Amethyst told her parents that she's going on vacation and immigrated from Australia to the United States of America to earn money illegally using a six year visa to stay in the United States.  To prevent herself from becoming an illegal alien, she left the United States, reapplied for another six year temporary visa and then returned to do business as usual.  Essentially a teenage runaway and a borderline illegal immigrant, Amethyst first lived in Miami, Florida, then to Houston, Texas and later to Atlanta, Georgia.  It was in Atlanta, Georgia that she adopted the nickname Iggy Azalea to represent her new life as a teenage runaway and a borderline illegal immigrant.  Her life suddenly improved for the better.
Her debut album was released in September 27, 2011.  She became a student of a rap music performer named  Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. aka T.I. and turned down a recording contract with Interscope Records in order to keep learning under him.  Instead, she found a recording contract with Grand Hustle Records to release her second album on July 30, 2012.  She ditched Grand Hustle Records when her second album release was delayed and signed with Mercury Records instead to release her third album April 21, 2014.  Iggy Azalea is currently on tour to support her third album and a fourth album is being planned even as we speak.
