A FEW THOUGHTS ON ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Before we begin, here are some photos of television and film actress Hayden Panettiere.

As we celebrate St. Patrick's Day, what do we know about the guy?  Let's see, was was born in the Ancient Roman Empire version of Brittain in an unknown year.  His father was named Calpornius and he was a church deacon.  His grandfather was named Potitus and he was a priest.  Did that mean that Father Potitus got a girl pregnant when he was supposed to have taken an oath of celibacy?  Anyway, Patrck was kidnapped and sold into slavery at age sixteen.  He was sold to a slave owner in Ireland.  St. Patrick wasn't born in Ireland, but that's where he spent most of his life.  He eventually got his freedom and became a Priest or a monk.  Either of those two.  Thousands of people converted and was baptised to Christianity by his hand.  St. Patrick banished snakes from Ireland.  However, those who have been to Ireland would've told you that still some snakes remain.  St. Patrick used the clover as a metaphore to represent the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.  St. Patrick died on March 17, 461 A.D..  So today would be the day we commemorate the funeral of St. Patrick and remember all the good work he has done for the Christian faith.  There was no man far more committed to Christianity than St. Patrick (Except maybe the Pope).
